Chamber of Commerce

History

The Brunswick Area Chamber of Commerce had its beginning as “The Brunswick Club” formed in 1937, as a result of the need for a civic club to promote the interests of Brunswick. In the early years, The Brunswick Club promoted a community fair and, with the advent of fertilizer, sponsored the first 100-bushel corn-growing contest in the area. Another project involved the purchase of a site on the Grand River for a modern river marina with boat-launching facilities and rest rooms. This river access was eventually donated to the Missouri Conservation Commission. The social event of the year was the annual Brunswick Club banquet held in early spring, when members and their wives, friends, neighbors and employees enjoyed dinner and professional entertainment.

Just as seasons change, so do organizations. At a community wide meeting held April 25, 1972, dedicated citizens continued to faithfully serve by setting plans in motion to form the Brunswick Area Chamber of Commerce to better meet the needs of the community.

Though there have been ups and downs, the Chamber has worked diligently to strengthen the community, encourage growth, identify needs, and seize opportunities. The Chamber is committed to working with the City of Brunswick and other organizations to enhance the Brunswick area making it a great place to live, work, and raise a family. Vibrant communities don’t just happen, it takes people working together with a common vision for the future. It is much easier to keep the fire burning than to rekindle it after it has gone out. The Brunswick Area Chamber of Commerce is committed to keeping the fire burning!
